White Court Primary School

Chairman's Welcome

Thank you for visiting our website. White Court County Primary School was established over thirty years ago to accommodate the development of the White Court Estate and more recently Great Notley Garden Village. During this time it has grown from 170 pupils to 620 pupils. We have always provided a warm and friendly welcome and have provided an excellent service to the local community. During the twenty years that I have been a School Governor I have seen the addition of a nursery, four building extensions and the inclusion of French Language lessons for all year groups. The school provides an excellent learning environment and achieves high standards of education and support.

New Handwriting Style

Click on the link to see the new cursive handwriting style at White Court School.
Research suggests this will not only help with their handwriting, but also their spelling and progress in writing.
We firmly believe this will benefit all of our children throughout the different stages of writing, whether they are learning to form letters, learning to join, or completing extended pieces of writing further up the school.
Every letter starts from the line, and all letters are joined (except capitals).

Foundation Stage and Year 1 will not be taught to join the letters, but may naturally try.
Joining will be officially introduced during Year 2.
From the beginning of Year 3, all children will join their letters.

Thank you in advance for supporting us in introducing this new style of handwriting, particularly in this initial change over period.

New Mathematics Curriculum 2014

As the new Maths Curriculum is introduced from September 2014 we thought it would be useful to share with you the statutory requirements for each year group. Please remember to also refer to our Written Methods Policy, which can also be found on this website. We will be continuing to update our policies and these will be available for you to view online over the next year.

Thanks for your support at home.

Sports Premium
In April 2013, the Department for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport announced new funding of £150 million to support the delivery of PE and school sport.  Funding is being allocated to all state-maintained secondary, primary, middle and special schools (including non-maintained special schools), academies and pupil referral units with primary aged pupils for the period September 2013 to 31st August 2014 and from 1st September 2014 to 31st August 2015. Our school will be receiving £11,000 in two instalments.
We are using our Sport Premium to improve the quality of PE and Sport provision in the following ways:

Providing staff with outside courses and in-house training to improve their competence and confidence when teaching PE.
Joining the Braintree Hub. This has meant that White Court have had more opportunities to take part in outside sporting competitions including, Cross Country and Korf Ball. It has also provided us links to Notley High School and resulted in us receiving specialist PE sessions with trained coaches.
Purchasing new sports equipment for the introduction of new sports games, including Dodge Ball.
Purchasing new visual aids to support our PE lessons.
More sports equipment for use during playtimes.
Buying new PE clothing for children who take part in wider sports competitions.
Purchasing sports clothing for all teachers to wear in PE lessons so they can set a good example to all children, for safety and to show good practice in lessons.
Buying new equipment to use as part of the new KS1 Sports Day system.
Active Kids Club for selected children before school starts in the morning.
New PE journals to be used as an assessment and evidence system for teachers.
Sports Week (to take place in Summer Term). Involving outside companies, such as DNA Bootcamp to come into school to teach and involve the children in various PE activities.
