A big congratulations and well done to the pupils that represented White Court School at the Key Stage 2 District Sports event.  The teamwork was amazing and the support they showed each other was incredible.  They performed extremely well and we are very proud to say they came second in both the Relay event and the Track & Field event.  Only narrowing missing out on first place by 2 points for the Relay and 9 points for the Track & Field. Congratulations to Great Bradford’s who won both events and were worthy winners!

Year 5/6 Girls’ Football Festival
Friday 24th May

Well done to the girls in their final tournament this year at Colchester which celebrated the Premier League values Inspiration, Ambition, Fairness and Connection.  They played 8 games, winning 4, drawing 2 and losing 2 with many different goalscorers.   Opposition included Engaine, Lyon’s Hall, Boxsted and Kelvedon.  The overall standard of play was excellent along with the attitude of all the girls taking part.

A big thank you to the sponsors of our first ever girls’ kit CNM Advisory (Croucher Needham).  The girls wore it with pride as you can see below:

Year 5/6 Boys Football Team 29/3/19

Well done to the Boys Team who competed today at the Regional Finals at Sporting Thamesmead representing the Essex FA. They narrowly missed out on qualifying but should be very proud of the way they played.  2 of the FA coaches came over to say we had played some of the best football they had seen all day and other teams’ coaches commented on how good our football was.  The boys received their medals and pennant to confirm they were the best team in Essex!  Well done to Gerrards Cross from Buckinghamshire who progress through to the National Finals.

Year 5/6 Girls football Team

18/3/19 – White Court Girls vs Lyons Hall.
An excellent start to the season saw us win 5-2 away at Lyons Hall with the goals coming from Katie (3), Caitlyn and one Own Goal. It was their first ever league game and every single player was amazing!

26/3/19 – White Court Girls vs John Bunyan.
Another very strong performance from the girls led to a 5-0 victory over John Bunyan. Goal scorers were Caitlyn and Katie (4).  The passing and communication is developing very well, with all the team listening to advice and trying to implement it in the games.

1/4/19 – White Court Girls vs Gt Bradfords
The girls continued their winning run by defeating Gt Bradfords 3-0.  The first half was very tight with both teams competing well for the ball. An excellent goal each for Katie and Caitlyn, both from outside the box, and a penalty from Katie saw the game out for White Court.  Both teams played very well and thoroughly enjoyed the game!

25/4/19 White Court vs Notley Green
Another exciting game saw the girls win 3-1 (Katie x3). All the girls are improving game by game and seem to be thoroughly enjoying their football.

29/4/19 White Court vs John Ray
Our final league game of the season was a 2-0 loss to John Ray in what was a very even and end to end game, with lots of excitement.  We just couldn’t find that final finish to complete our many attacks. It was an incredible performance from both teams and one thoroughly enjoyed by the spectators.

Year 6 Tag Rugby
Tuesday 15th January 2019

On Tuesday the 15th January, the Year Six rugby team participated in a tag-rugby tournament against local schools at Braintree Rugby Club.   The team worked together fantastically and won each of their three group games before winning the semi-final. Having beaten them during the group stage, White Court narrowly missed out to Lyons Hall in the final 3-2.  The top two teams from the tournament progress to the next round; the Year Sixes are now looking forward to competing again at Witham Rugby Club in February. Well done everyone!

Essex County Schools FA U11 Malcolm Moffatt Competition
Thursday 29th November 2018

Congratulations to the boys on winning the County Finals at Chelmsford on 29th November!  They now go through to the Regional Finals and will be representing the Essex FA.  White Court finished top of their group which consisted of Greenways, Oakfield and West Leigh. Then came the semi-final which was against Shenfield St Mary’s and this saw White Court burst into a 2-0 lead only to be pegged back to 2-2. White Court then won on penalties after scoring all of theirs and saving all of the oppositions.  In the final, we met Holland Haven and this was the best performance of the lot, coming away with a 3-1 win. The quality of football was excellent and the boys raised their game as the competition got stronger.  Well done and good luck in the Regionals!

Girls National League Trust U11s Tournament

A big well done to the girls football team.  For many, it was their first ever competitive game of football and they did themselves proud! The first game was against Lyon’s Hall, which was very close, the final score was 1-0 to Lyon’s Hall.  After that came John Ray, this was an end to end game with lots of excitement and the final score was 2-2, goals coming from Anastasia and Katie.  The final game was against Cressing and was our best performance of the day. Katie and Anastasia scored another goal each to make the final score 2-0 to White Court.  The girls had a thoroughly enjoyable day and we would like to wish John Ray good luck in the next round.

School Football Team
Witham Town 6/11/18

Well done to the school football team who have progressed to the County Finals after finishing top of the group in the regional finals today.  They played Becker’s Green, Holy Trinity, Steeple Bumpstead and Chipping Hill.  The football played was a joy to watch, with some exquisite passing.  They finished the day with 2 wins and 2 draws, without conceding a single goal. Good luck in the next round which takes place on 29th November.

Colchester United Girls’ World Cup Football Festival
Wednesday 20th June

Another brilliant day for the girl’s football team.

First job was to pick our World Cup Team out of a bag, and Rhiannon pulled out France:

We had 6 group games to play against some very evenly matched teams.  We won 2 of them and drew 4, which meant we finished top of the group and progressed through to the quarter finals.
The quarter final saw our best performance of the day, running out 3-0 winners and through to the semis.
The semi-final was another very even game which finished 0-0 and went straight into sudden death penalties. We won the penalty shoot out 3-2 with all of our penalty takers scoring, and went through to the final!
The final was a very tough game against Heathlands, who were deserved winners and we would like to say well done to them.  White Court lost 3-0, their only loss of the day.  All of the girls can hold their heads up high, they played very good football and thoroughly enjoyed their day.

Year 5/6 Girls – The National League Trust Girls Football Tournament

White Court FC
Friday 26th January 2018

A-team:  This term saw White Court start their new football league campaign in the Large Braintree School Competition. Their first match was at home against a good Great Bradford’s side. From the whistle, White Court showed great skill and ability, starting quickly and taking control of the game. Great Bradford’s were strong in defence but using their excellent passing game White Court managed to unlock the defence. The final score finished 5 – 0 to White Court, a great start to the season.  Mr Hopgood.

White Court FC
Friday 2nd February 2018

A-team:  Their second match was at home to a very strong and physical John Bunyan side. Bunyan took an early lead but White Court showed their determination and team togetherness to fight back, winning the game 5 – 1.
The football squad should be incredibly proud of their start to the season and have represented the school in an exemplary manor.   Mr Hopgood.

B-team:  A second match against John Bunyan was taking place simultaneously and the rest of the squad put in an assured display in tricky conditions. In the first half, White Court created a number of goal scoring opportunities, however the opposition goalkeeper made a string of impressive saves to keep John Bunyan in the game. Eventually their defence was breached and White Court reached half time 1-0 up.
The second half saw the team grow in confidence and begin to string more passes together on the heavy pitch. This led to more goals and White Court eventually emerged 8-0 winners.
A confident, patient and tenacious display from all involved – well done team.
Mr Pruce

White Court Quiz Team
Wednesday 31st January 2018

After fighting off competition from the rest of their year groups, our Quiz Team was chosen and have been busy practising their tactics ready to take part in the National Quiz against other schools.
On Wednesday 31st January, they travelled to Perryfields in Chelmsford to take part in the regional heat.  They were in a very difficult heat with some extremely strong teams, but performed brilliantly and finished in third place, not very far behind the teams that were first and second.  Well done!
The Quiz Team consisted of Hudson, George, Isabel and Phoebe.
Our thanks go to Miss Castleman.

Year 5 Dodgeball Tournament
Tuesday 5th December

On Tuesday 5th December the Year 5 Dodgeball Team took part in the Ramsey Dodgeball Competition. The two teams demonstrated fantastic team work, agility and skill in all the games they took part in. Year 5/6 Girls Football County Finals
Wednesday 22nd November

Well done to the girls for their gritty performance at the County finals this week. They were up against some very strong teams from all over Essex and more than held their own in the games they played, winning one and drawing 4.

Year 5/6 Girls Football Level 2 Final
Monday 13th November

On Monday 13th November, ten girls from Year 5 and 6 competed in a football tournament at Lyons Hall. Despite the bitter cold, everyone played with a smile on their face and put in 100% effort.

Sporting White Court’s new Premier League kit for the first time, the girls won their opening game 4-0 against John Bunyon. They then went on to win their remaining group games 6-0 and 3-0 against Bulmer and Lyons Hall respectively.

The semi-final against Great Yeldham was a tighter affair, with White Court eventually emerging 2-0 winners. The final pitted White Court against the host school for the second time that afternoon; Lyons Hall were more compact this time round and limited White Court’s opportunities. Determination and perseverance led to the opening goal direct from a corner giving White Court the advantage. The vital second goal also went to White Court and eased the pressure. The girls remained disciplined and went on to see the game out with their fifth clean sheet of the competition.

Each member of the squad made valuable contributions to the team, with goals coming from all over the park – seventeen in total. Equally impressive was White Court’s defence who didn’t let in a single goal all afternoon.

The girls entered the spirit of the game: supporting each other, showing sportsmanship and grace in victory. A number of teachers from other schools came to congratulate them and say how well they had played.

The girl’s next challenge will be in the county finals at Melbourne Park, Chelmsford next week.

Overall it was an excellent performance from the whole of the White Court team and they should all be incredibly proud of the way they represented the school.

Friday 9th June
Kwik Cricket at Braintree Cricket Club

The Year 5 cricket team battled bravely at the Braintree Cricket Club.  8 teams took part in this particular heat, being split into 2 groups.
The first game was against Great Bradford’s and was quite a nervous start, we lost by 15 runs, scoring 245 to Bradford’s 260.
Our second game was much more confident and saw us hit an amazing 271 runs, winning the game by 32 runs.
The final group game against Becker’s Green was a very narrow loss, losing by only 6 runs.
Due to our high scoring games, we finished 2nd in our group and progressed to a third place play off to see which team went through to the next round.  This game was against Lyon’s Hall.
The Lyon’s Hall team demonstrated particularly good fielding and bowling, but our team also demonstrated great skills!  It was a very close game and finished 243-239 to Lyon’s Hall. A loss by only 4 runs!

District Sports

This was a defining moment in White Court history, the school not only won the overall relay trophy but for the first time, won the overall District Sports event. This year’s competition was held at Tabor Science Collage and consisted of 8 other schools. The whole team had been training hard throughout the Summer term and this was shown by every single White Court team member competing hard to win their event. The relays were a huge success with White Court winning two out of the four and coming runners up in one of the others. This meant the team would take home the relay trophy for a second time in a row but it was the overall trophy that White Court really wanted. When the scores were delivered it was between us and St Michael’s, the scores read St Michaels 112, White Court 120. A huge win for all the participants who should feel incredibly proud of their achievement, I know everyone at school and all the parents were hugely impressed. Well done White Court!

Junior Masterchef

On Thursday 9th June, Leah and I went to a Junior Master Chef competition at Notley High School. We were asked to make a healthy dish that cost under five pounds. We had one hour to make the dish. We were judged on the taste, presentation and how we coped in the kitchen. Luckily I got through to the final.   Written by Poppy from Year 6.

On the 9th June, Poppy and I were chosen to go to Master Chef. It was so much fun to do and all of the dishes were amazing. My dish was a cheesy baked chicken and it turned out really well. The judges were really nice and gave us some tips on how to improve our dishes. It was so much fun!  Written by Leah from Year 5.

Football League Trust Kids Cup – Round 2

After White Court’s huge success in the first round of the cup, the team along with a coach full of spectators travelled to Coventry to compete in the second round on Wednesday 9th March. White Court were representing Colchester United at the tournament and we were drawn against Swindon Town, Walsall United, Burton Albion and Coventry City in the group. The whole team were outstanding in every match, playing out from the back and creating chance after chance in each game. In a tough group the team only lost one match but unfortunately did not progress into the semi-finals. The team should be extremely proud of firstly getting to this stage of the tournament and for the way they performed throughout the day. I would like to also thank all the spectators who made the long journey to Coventry to come and support the team.
